Susan is the lead analytical chemist with Consilium Sciences, LLC specializing in chemical product assessment and the manufacturing and controls narrative for regulatory product applications.
For more than 25 years she worked at Altria Client Services in Research & Development and Regulatory Affairs supporting new product development, conventional products (cigarettes, cigars, and smokeless tobacco) and novel, reduced risk alternatives (HTPs-Accord/IQOS, ENDS-MarkTen and ONPs-Verve). She was part of the successful Copenhagen MST MRTPA and associated TPSAC meeting. She has worked on SEs, PMTAs, MRTPAs, deficiency letters, and pre-inspection audits.
Since joining Consilum in 2020, she has contributed to a wide variety of regulatory product submissions such as open e-liquids, open and closed pod and mod ENDS, synthetic nicotines, coil and tank accessories, and a variety of oral nicotine products.
Susan received a B.S. in Chemistry and B.A. in History from University of Richmond (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa). She has a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Duke University and performed post-doctoral research at University of Virginia in Biochemistry and Biophysics. She has 26 peer-reviewed publications, 13 patents issued, and numerous conference presentations and posters.
