Meet The Team

Kaitlin Layne, MSN
Nurse-Clinician Scientist

Kaitlin received her BA and Clinical Nurse Leader Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Virginia where she was a Conway Scholar, Jefferson Public Citizen Scholar, and Center for Global Health Scholar. Kaitlin participated in community-driven research at the University of Virginia. She was a part of an interdisciplinary team that developed, implemented, and evaluated a Community Health Worker training program in Limpopo, South Africa. She also assisted with a longitudinal research project to enhance end-of-life care education and promote inter-professionalism for medical and nursing students. Kaitlin is currently pursuing a Master in Public Health at the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health.

Kaitlin’s clinical experience began as a clinical nurse at the University of North Carolina’s Lineberger Cancer Center. She was involved with a clinical practice group that focused on hospital policy review and implementation of evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes and unit safety, and she assisted with hospital-wide initiatives for improved patient outcomes. She was involved with patient care in clinical trials and served as a preceptor and competency validator to clinical peers. Kaitlin then transitioned to an Oncology Nurse Navigator role where she worked closely with a team of genitourinary surgeons to coordinate multidisciplinary care and serve as a patient educator and advocate. In addition to her responsibilities at Consilium Sciences, Kaitlin is a clinical nurse at Yale New Haven Hospital. She is a certified Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL), Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN), and certified Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider.

Kaitlin brings real-world clinical perspective to Consilium Sciences’ projects. She promotes an interdisciplinary approach with a focus on evidence-based, holistic patient centered care. Kaitlin often works in project management and coordination roles on regulatory science projects. She also assists with literature reviews, quality control/quality assurance document reviews, and writing support on Consilium Sciences projects.
